Asafa Powell currently holds the title as the “The Worlds Fastest Human”. He is the 6th son of two country pastors from Jamaica who both claim that he gets the talent from them.
The 23-year-old has only been on the international circuit for three full seasons and has already broke a world record. Powell was a favorite to win the 100m at the 2004 Olympic games in Athens, but after a disappointing performance he placed 5th. The next year he came back to that same stadium for the Super Grand Prix Tsikiltra where he proved his dominance by breaking the 100m world record with a time of 9.77s in a race he describes as far from perfect. This humble athlete has come out from the shadows, leaving experts to reconsider the limits of human potential.
Powell soared through the 2006 season undefeated in
the 100m. He equaled his 9.77 world record twice, won a part
of the Golden League Series jackpot, and was awarded 2006 Athlete of
the year by the IAAF. In 2007 Powell again proved his
dominance to the world. After a disappointing 3rd in the World
Championships, he came back in his next race to break the 100m Word
Record once again (9.74s).
